As the famous debut against the Iron Breath is nearing its 30th anniversary. We at DOB News have an exclusive one on one with the hero himself.
Thank you for this opportunity Intel.
It’s a pleasure Miss Tetra. I’ve read your article on Dr. Holo’s downward spiral, impressive work.
I’m quite flattered, but this isn’t about me. How do you feel about nearing 30 years of your Hero career?
Bittersweet, it’s an impressive number and I’m quite proud of my work, but it’s also a clock in my head, knowing that it's ticking for the time of my retirement.
Retirement, I hope you're not leaving so soon.
I have planted the seeds for it, but not even my wife could force me to quit yet.
Seeds, what or who do you mean by that?
I’m the Leader of A.C.E.S. for 24 years, everyone there now has my complete faith.
Even your new protege?
Yes, even the bloodied sidekick, Pulse.
I’ve heard from our S.M.A. correspondent, that S.M.A. aren’t the biggest of fans of Pulse?
That ain’t wrong. They were furious with the idea of a “boot” joining us. But, new or not, it wasn't just me that saw the potential. Sun-Ray (the one who actually hired him), Fast-Tap, Maritimus Prime, and even Blockade saw the same potential.
Blockade? He’s always uplifted people, are you sure he wasn’t trying to be nice, or not stir A.C.E.S?
Yes, even the Perfect Superhero himself knows his potential.
That’s surprising, but this interview isn’t about him. Let’s go back, what was your first decision made after the public acknowledged you as “INTEL”?
Ditch the hat.
It was always in the way and my mask was way better at covering my identity than the hat.
Doesn’t your other protege “Blindshot” wear a hat?
She knows how I feel about it.
What would the past A.C.E.S. leaders would think about A.C.E.S. Now?
50 years ago there were two hero leagues, HighLife and A.C.E.S. Highlife was a populist club, where more of the celebrity focused heroes joined to gain contracts and the heroes faced lesser problems. A.C.E.S. was the inverse of that being more of a Group of unaccountable powerhouses, and with it plenty of corruption within the organization, and the government didn’t care about who and what they’re doing, they were the perfect soldiers to stomp opposition. That’s until Broker killed the Third Leader, The Crimson Block and Tendon the leader who trained me took over. Except for Tendon, I do not believe that the leaders of A.C.E.S. would’ve appreciated my overhaul of A.C.E.S.
Do you have any lessons Tendon passed down to you?
I don’t want to spend the whole hour so I’ll condense the 6 years into three: 1. Always lead with Occum’s Razor. 2. The challengers will always come with the preconception of what you are,
so renew yourself every week. 3. The most important one, Believe.
Over the years, you’ve faced off around 30 different villains who would you say is your favorite?
Why would I have a favorite? Er... Freaked Out Geek, and the ones who rehabilitated themselves.
What about *him*?
A crazed lunatic determined to create a new world with a sea of blood?
No, he would not be my favorite.
There’s a growing number for backers for the Iron Lung Association. What do you say to those people backing a villain you’ve faced since your inception?
The reason why both Iron Breath and I became who we are, is because of corruption. Those fat cats stuffing more grub into their stomachs instead spending it where it’s needed. And we tackle the subject in very different ways. I arrest so we have a system to outlaw repeated behavior and it improves the system that every man in the army, police, and governments believes in. Iron Breath kills these corrupted politicians, so that anyone who is in or out of government is intimidated to steer clear of corruption. And if you disagree with me that’s fine, but please just understand that no one deserves to die and I believe with every ounce of my body.
I’ve heard from your critics that your approach to corruption is slow. While Iron Breath is faster.
That’s because the justice system has its routine. It takes time to convict these criminals in high places, but it is a snowball. Once convicted we can use them as a “renewed” guideline for where we can stop them ealier in the path and prevent harm to our civilians.
How many times have politicians meddled to delay these convictions?
They have been intervening since when we started this process.
And how many times have these verdicts actually helped in your favor?
Not many.
Now I’m not trying to advocate for the drastic alternative but, this process works in an ideal world, but we do not have an ideal world. We need something that works all the time and something swift that changes the status quo for our current citizens to expirience it.
I understand your frustration but, their is something sacred about "Due Process" that I cannot beat around. It is lifevest to prevent us from drowning.
What about our prisoners that have been forced to take the fall, did "Due Process" save them from drowning?
No, it didn't.
Then as long as you don't have a solution, you can never stop the growth of the "Iron Lung".
I'm putting my 120% on a better solution.
Thank you, Intel. Unfortunately that's all the time we have today. Do you have any final thoughts or advice to part this segment?
The answer to life's formula is almost impossible, because of it's nuance. There's so much that in your head that makes you say "Oh it should be red." But you press blue anyways, because your life decisions and expiriences that influence your instincts. So what I'll say is to understand you instinct and make sure to follow it as a guide. Cause if you walk aimlessly, you'll find a dinner along the way.
Thank you, Miss Tetra.
